So what is on your Holiday list? I doubt any of you will get anything because from what I’ve seen on the party scene this year you are all oh-so-naughty! This has been a great year and it’s wrapping up, but there is STILL more work to be done at having fun so keep reading to find out what happened, what’s happening, and what will happen in the Valley.
January Barrett-Jackson Event: Have you ever had a Craig Jackson Martini? It’s Ciroc Citron, St. Germaine Liqueur, Gran Marnier, lime and orange juice mixed to perfection, creating a drink worthy of being served at the W Hotel. Good, but this Night Owl favors a margarita over a martini any day, that’s why I highly recommend a Steve Davis Margarita. Patron Silver, Gran Marnier, sweet and sour, and orange juice were enough to make me almost forget it was the middle of winter and I was nowhere near a beach. If these cocktails sound familiar then you attended the preview Barrett-Jackson event at the W Hotel last week. If they don’t, don’t worry, you’ll have another chance to try both these drinks at their other event, The Barrett-Jackson Collectors Car Auction January 11th – 18th. Tickets range from $120 down to $1, but get them now because prices will increase January 2nd. Check out www.barrett-jackson.com to see what’s going to auction. See you there!
The Holidays: If you are looking for a great place to get into the Holiday spirit and do some shopping, I recommend Tempe Market Place. The Night Owl was out there this past weekend with friends for dinner, and was awe struck by the almost Rockefeller Center-like tree. It is huge. I swear, all that place needs is an ice skating rink. Also, there are awesome light decorations that illuminate everything from landscape to overhead displays. It gave me that warm and fuzzy Christmas feeling making me want to wish good will to all men, shake hands, and stand on a block to yell “God bless us everyone!” It also reminded me that Christmas was almost here, which means that I have less than two weeks to prepare, and how I haven’t done or planned a thing, and how stressed out I get at this time of year. It’s funny how this season is a mixed bag of emotions.
Blackberry Luxe: Okay, so who else was at Jack Rabbit for the latest Blackberry Luxe party? For those not in the know, Blackberry has been putting on parties with celebrity DJs across the country for a while now, apparently trying to make an impression on the “in” crowd. This one was held on a Tuesday, and, all things considered it was pretty fun. The sole reason I went was to try and spot Lindsey Lohan, but alas, I didn’t see her and didn’t care THAT much to hang around to see if she’d make an appearance. Oh, why would she possibly be there you ask? Her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, was the celebrity DJ at this party. Ronson is an okay DJ, but I seriously doubt she would be considered much more than average if her family and girlfriend weren’t so famous. Yes, I’m a scrooge, but what-eves. The one cool thing about the party is that since I have a Blackberry, I received VIP status, for whatever that’s worth.
Music Note: Where are my music fans? I have a little interesting Beatles note for you: Did you hear that the Beatles’ first contract sold for $211,597? The historic document that cemented the Fab Four’s partnership with manager Brian Epstein in 1962 was featured as part of a live and online auction conducted on November 27th by the Fame Bureau in London. The five-year contract called for Epstein to receive 25% of the gross earnings of the band. The document detailed Epstein’s obligations, including undertaking all advertising and publicity for the musicians and advising them on matters concerning clothes, presentation, and construction of their acts. Included on the document are the signatures of George Harrison’s and Paul McCartney’s fathers, as those younger Beatles were under the age of 21. The contract contains two signatures by John Lennon, who, inadvertently signed in the wrong place. Realizing his mistake, he struck through the first signature and signed again in the correct position.
Be safe, be a good person. Till next time…
